  • I am a member of the Solar Activity Prediction Research Group of NAOC. In general, the aim of my research is to develop methods to predict prominent solar explosive phenomena, such as solar X-ray flares, solar energetic particles (SEPs) and coronal mass ejections (CMEs).
  • Currently, the emphasis of my research is on the nonlinear force-free field (NLFFF) extrapolation algorithm of the coronal magnetic field using the photospheric vector magnetic field data as the bottom boundary condition. To understand the physical mechanisms of the activity phenomena in the solar corona, an important step is to find out the underlying 3D structures of the coronal magnetic fields.

    By utilizing the latest vector magnetic field data of solar photosphere observed by both the space-based telescopes (Hinode, SDO, etc.) and ground-based telescopes, and employing the nonlinear force-free field extrapolation algorithm as the primary modeling method, we investigate the 3D configuration characters of the coronal magnetic field, analyze their relationships to the solar eruptive activities, and try to understand the physical processes and the trigger mechanisms of these eruptive phenomena. A prediction model for solar activities is expected to be constructed based on the 3D configuration characters of the coronal magnetic field.
